Sculpture Garden Exhibition Tour

Ludovica Moro (Producer, Exhibitions) leads a guided tour of Sculpture Garden, T. Venkanna's first institutional solo exhibition in the UK.

In this tour, visitors can learn more about the artist's practice and the context and ideas behind these newly commissioned works, providing a unique opportunity to explore the exhibition in depth.

T. Venkanna’s practice persistently questions sexual imagination and its entanglements with societal norms, freedom and repression. For his new exhibition at Studio Voltaire, the artist presents an expansive series of egg tempera and natural pigment paintings on board, drawing on encounters with Early Renaissance devotional panel paintings to weave together Western and South Asian visual traditions.

Populated by humans, animals and mythical figures, these symbolic landscapes blur the boundaries between private desire and public crisis, reflecting on power, obedience and transgression in a contemporary moment shaped by nationalism and environmental decay.

Lead Programme Supporter: Blanca & Sunil Hirani Charitable Trust. Programme Supporter: The Burger Collection with additional support from the T. Venkanna Exhibition Circle, The Studio Voltaire Council and Art Fund's John Ruffer Curatorial Grant.
