ZINE COOP Party: Live!

Session One
Sunday 25 June 2023, 3–6 pm

The third edition of the annual ZINE COOP Party, taking place in person and online.

The ZINE COOP Party is a unique twist on a virtual art book fair. Beatrix Pang, alongside an array of zine makers from the ESEA zine fair, will be in attendance to answer questions about ZINE COOP, zine making, and zine culture, with a specific focus on the ways independent publishing and zine culture is used for acts of resistance and acceptance.

Online attendees will control a pixelated character to explore a virtual space, engage with other attendees and join virtual panel discussions. In-person visitors can join in and explore the virtual space via a live projection and drop-in station, viewing works by 40+ exhibitors and mingling with zinesters worldwide.

This is a comfortable, non-commercial and spontaneous social space. The exhibiting artists’ work will explore this theme by seeking to answer:

  • What do we need that we’re not getting in our daily and spiritual lives?
  • What obstacles have come our way and how have we learnt to live with them?
  • What rifts have developed within our communities and how have we found ways to move on?
  • How have we learnt to soothe ourselves with creature comforts and self-care?

If you are unable to attend in person, please register to be sent the link to join the party online.

Pang was the first recipient of Studio Voltaire and LOEWE FOUNDATION’s inaugural year-long international residency.
