The Reading Room
In collaboration with Book Works, the Project Studio at Studio Voltaire was transformed into The Reading Room.
Established in 1984, Book Works is a leading contemporary arts organisation based in London which commissions and produces new work in full collaboration with artists. They work across media, publishing and producing: books, multiples, videos, CD-Roms, installations, time-based performance works and inaugurating discussions. Over a two-week period, visitors will be able to access this unique resource of over 70 artists’ books and special publications produced by Book Works. The Reading Room will also feature a selection of videos, audio works, posters and slide projections.
To coincide with The Reading Room, Studio Voltaire will launch A Guide to the Future, a new publication made by residents from the local area with playwright Suzy Almond, graphic designer James Lambert and artist Thurle Wright. A Guide to the Future will suggest creative possibilities for the future, including new languages, future fashions and radical technologies. Participating groups include: Collingwood Court Nursing Home, Stockwell Park High School and Kings Avenue Primary School.
