Support our exhibitions programme

Studio Voltaire has an outstanding track record of supporting artists at a pivotal stage in their careers by commissioning artists’ first solo exhibitions in London or presenting work by international artists to UK audiences for the first time.

We commission, fund and produce award-winning films, performances and painting, sound and sculptural installations, providing artists with time, care and resources to create ambitious work on their own terms, from conception to completion.

Over the past thirty years, we have supported breakthrough commissions by artists including Nairy Baghramian, Phyllida Barlow, Danielle Brathwaite Shirley, Gabriel Chaile, Monster Chetwynd, Thea Djordjadze, Nicole Eisenman, Jake Grewal, Sunil Gupta, Sharon Hayes, Nnena Kalu, Sanya Kantarovsky, Ella Kruglyanskaya, Shahryar Nashat, Paulina Olowska, Elizabeth Price, William Scott, Jo Spence and Cathy Wilkes.

Our exhibitions have gone on to be presented at and collected by major international institutions, including Tate, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Malmö Kunsthalle, British Council Collection, Museum Ludwig, Moderna Museet and Arts Council Collection.

As a direct result of our support, commissioned artists have been awarded and nominated for prizes, including the Turner Prize, Carnegie Prize, Wolfgang Hahn Prize and MacArthur Genius Fellowship, as well as participating in major international arts festivals, including Venice Biennale, Skulptur Projekte Munster, Whitney Biennial and documenta.

We rely entirely on our exhibition supporters to commission artists. At a time when funding and opportunities for artists are steadily decreasing, Studio Voltaire's well-established role as a vital platform at a crucial moment in their artistic journeys is more important today than ever.

Exhibition Supporters are engaged in our programme year-round and are invited to meet and develop relationships with the artists whose exhibitions they support as well as enjoying access to our unparalleled programme of Supporters’ Events, including artists’ dinners, studio visits, curator-led tours of collections and exhibitions, previews and our major Annual Supporters' Dinner.

We welcome the support of those who wish to become involved in a particular exhibition or who would like to make a long-term commitment.
