Fund a residency

Our well-structured and supported international artistic and curatorial residencies provide essential support and increase visibility for emerging talent, whilst strengthening global networks.

As well as studio space, production facilities and access to a unique community of 55 onsite artists and cultural practitioners, residents benefit from a specialist professional development and mentoring programme, broadening their networks and creating unparalleled opportunities for meaningful international exchange.

These vital programmes, developed with national and international partners, enable Studio Voltaire to maintain a global outlook and bring important new voices to the UK, enriching the local and international cultural landscape. We have recently supported artists from Argentina, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Germany, India, Ireland and Japan, including Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun, Lauren Conway, Godelive Kasangati Kabena, Marina Lisa Komiya, Prajakta Potnis and Nicolás Said.

There is a greater need than ever for programmes that equip artists with supported opportunities to advance their practice and access vital networks. All of our residencies are fully funded, and artists are selected through subject or region-specific nominations and open calls.

We rely entirely on Residency Supporters to make these opportunities possible. Residency Supporters are engaged in our programme year-round and are invited to meet and develop relationships with the artists whose residencies they support, as well as enjoying access to our unparalleled programme of Supporters’ Events, including artists’ studio visits, private curator-led tours of collections and exhibitions, previews and our Annual Supporters' Dinner.

We welcome the support of those who wish to become involved in a particular residency programme, or who would like to make a long-term commitment.
